'Borderland will touch you. It will make you angry. And it will make you weep. And in the process, you will never look at the issue of illegal immigration in the same way again...'
- The Huffington Post
Six Americans are tasked by a frontier medical examiner with retracing the footsteps of three migrants — three of the 5,500 illegal immigrants who perished in the desert in the past 15 years while trying to cross from Mexico. Gathered at the morgue, the American are told: “We’ve given them a name. You must give them a story.” Split into three groups, the six, from all walks of life, head for Central America. From there, they work their way back as the migrants they are following did, finally regrouping at the U.S.-Mexican border, where they will attempt the journey that proved fatal to “their” migrant — a dangerous trek through the hot badlands. They’ll live — but will they learn?
